The arrests of over 50 individuals in Fort Bend and Harris counties today constituted one of the largest steroid busts ever in Southwest Texas.  This operation, now known as “Farmacia de Juicy Phruit” began at 4:30am and continued throughout the day on Wednesday. According to Tim Johnson, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas, the ringleader of this operation is Charles Brook Faulkenhagen, owner and operator of Fitness Consultants, a Sugar Land-based company.  Faulkenhagen used this company to unlawfully import substances such as Human Growth Hormone.

Currently, it appears as though most of these arrests have originated from substances sold by Faulkenhagen to other parties. Among those arrested was Lee Thompson, head of the Texas NPC and IFBB Head Judge According to Anthony Roberts, “It is unclear right now if he was arrested for possession, distribution, or simply named because some of the people who were arrested had been associated with his chain of gyms, One 2 One Training Center”.

Fort Bend County Sheriff Milton Wright called it a “loosely-knit organization” that operated out of gyms and fitness centers in Fort Bend and Harris counties. Wright said 49 suspects face state charges and 17 face federal charges ranging from manufacturing to selling, possessing and distributing illegal drugs to include steroids, xanax, marijuana, Ecstasy, Viagra and vicoden. Arrests also took place in Dallas, Georgia and Florida.
